"When McCartney decided that he wanted to propose he wanted the ring to be very different and stand out. He certainly accomplished that. McCartney got help from one of the geniuses behind diamonds, Neil Lane. The over 5-carat diamond is an art deco piece from Lane’s archival collection, it is set in platinum with a stunning round center diamond, as we can see from the picture, but right there if you look closely, the actual ring has strips of black onyx on the side. "I love this ring even more now! First of all, the diamond is truly breathtaking, coupled with the onyx vintage feel, it really is unique. It has a small edge to it, and you have to have a little of that if you are marrying one of the greatest musical artist of all time!
McCartney had this ring in his possession for weeks, and was waiting for the perfect time to pop the question. I can’t imagine holding on to something like that for weeks and not just springing it out! Good for him for being so patient and waiting for the perfect moment! What a gorgeous piece!"
